IDRC are seeking a Senior Program Specialist/ Officer for the Health Equity and Governance Portfolio.

The Governance, Equity and Health (GEH) Program supports research in developing regions to promote equitable provision of public health and health care services. This includes research on financing, delivery, access and governance challenges across a number of themes and regions.

This position requires a willingness to acquire more specialised knowledge of health economics and/or health financing, if required, AND to travel internationally, an average of 60-90 days per year.

Responsibilities
Identifies critical research issues;
Assists in developing the research strategy;
Takes the lead in reviewing, developing, monitoring, managing and evaluating a portfolio of research projects. In particular, he/she will be involved in developing the portfolio on health equity and governance incorporating financing and poverty dimensions within an overall systems strengthening approach.
Experience Required
Five to eight years of relevant experience;
Conducting research;
Managing and evaluating research projects;
Developing and monitoring budgets;
Establishing and building partnerships;
Capacity building such as teaching, mentoring and supervising;
Working in developing regions;
Bilingual (English/French) position at an intermediate level;
Proficiency in Spanish is an asset;
Knowledge of the global public health arena and the donor landscape;
Knowledge of quantitative research methods;
Understanding of health financing and economic policy challenges in developing regions an asset.

Salary Benefits
CDN$86,383 - $107,979 CDN
This position may be filled as a Senior Program Officer (CDN$81,524 - $97,867) for candidates who have less than 8 years relevant experience.
